Part A This course studies work and work force trends through the examination of the history of various themes and the subsequent impact on work and the work force. The themes are • Immigration, globalization • Science, technology, obsolescence • Politics, social and cultural movements, world events • Labor movement — the rise and fall of organized labor • Workforce — membership (gender, age, family, skills) relations with management • Workforce protections — laws, workplace safety, healthcare, wages, retirement (Please use the themes above, and use them as titles for each section of the paper) We’ll be focusing on Sears, Roebuck & Co. Part B Discuss how it has been impacted by the forces listed in Part A from its inception until today, giving particular attention to the viability of the business, its workforce and its future.
