Choose one of the following topics and write a 1200-1500 word essay in response. Your essay should be MLA formatted, double spaced, 12 pt. times new roman font with a works cited page (no title page necessary).
1. Celebrity culture and/or popular culture is a recurring topic across the first few essays we read in class. While Kooijman’s peice analyzed celebrity culture alongside politics and ideology, IntelexualMedia’s essay offered a brief psychological reading of celebrity culture. How else might you consider celebrity culture’s influence in the modern world?
2. Hankschannel spends a great deal of time addressing a specific rhetorical construct in order to demonstrate the difficulty of parsing truth in language and conversation. What other conversations are often hindered by a failure of language and communication?
3. Pick a different essay we have read or will read and provide a response. You may critique, add to the conversation, engage with it, extend or corroborate their argument, and provide a thoughtful analysis of the issue.
